Perjumpaan 2009 [Encounter 2009 =)]

report by: the mighty joyce lim :)

i'm not lame (refer to title above). no worries. that title solely belongs to ivy. HAHA

moving on...

Youth Encounter Weekend 2009!

it rocked. seriously. of course being a sanguine (don't put us in a box, ish!), we tend to say 2 words when only 1 is needed. (its a fact, sorry! besides, melancholies say 10 words when u only need 2 but HAHA u didnt hear it from me...)

thus, i can safely say the 3 days spent up in Air Itam Team Building Centre really ROTATED the 29 participants' lives 180 degrees. of course, it may not be obvious for everybody, but if u look deeper, i'm sure even the coldest of hearts was thawed a little.

(if u're wondering why i'm spouting flowery phrases, lemme tell u, it's an unearthly hour that i'm posting this. CAN'T SLEEP! and a bit overdue, i muz say...SORRY ED! did i say u look absolutely stunning last Saturday? =DDD)

i'm sorry i don have pictures yet, but i'm sure it'll come soon...? i think. =)

thanks of course goes out to those of u out there who took time to lift the people in prayer. =)

since i have nothing more to say, let me retire this post by mentioning:

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, THERE IS FREEDOM!

Sunday, March 22, 2009

She asked for it.

Chew Yan-Y, oh, Chew Yan-Y....

(:

Photography: Nehe, Alex, and whoever else used the camera.

Usually now would be the time to mention the icebreaker (cuz it's the first thing we did in youth service right?) BUT something else deserves a spot in the post first.

Pre-service prayer.

It was different this week.

I thought they started worship d when I first came! Manatau it was just prayer.

'Just prayer' is such an understatement!

Firebrands.

United.

Like Kutu said, God was definitely there!

And remember 'your young men will see visions (Joel 2:28)'?

That prophecy has come true so many times, and this night was no exception.

Sharon saw all the Firebrands in a pitch-black, really dark place holding hands, making a circle... and in the middle of that circle was this huge, raging fire which lit the place up.

Marilyn had a vision of a chain of fire linking each Firebrand who stood and held hands in the circle.

God is awesome in this place.

The night went on with an ICEBREAKER by Sarah Wong and Eulene Ooi.

Step One: Listen to Eulene and Sarah's Quilt.

Step Two: Mingle, mingle, ask some questions.

Step Three: You might've seen him dozens of times but some talking won't hurt.

Step Four: I wonder why the photo's kinda blur.

The next two photos will suffice to menggambarkan what happened after all that mixing.

Objective: Say the other person's full name.

Wait for it..............................

Nehe: Gary Soon..! Gary Soon................
Gary (Lee not Soon!): uh.. uh... Nehemiah Jebaraj!

We shall then move on to praise & worship.

Which, sadly, we've no photos of.

BUT it went by terrific-ly.

And to top it all off - the icing on the cake:

James's ingenious rendition of Amazing Love - step up the tempo by quite a few notches!
(meaning turn it into a song that's nearly as fast as Now That You're Near)

Now that's new.

Young preachers' night!

First up was Ivy Joy Toh Joy Lynn. Bubbly, confident, smiley... new haircut!

She introduced her self-authored, self-proclaimed Missions For Dummies guidebook, which explained the What/Why/How/Who of missions.
(Unfortunately it's not in print. Only available in soft-copy.)

Then she had us break into groups of 3-4 ppl and pray for the Penan tribe in S'wak.

Right then we shall move on to Andrew Chan Wei Kin!

Someone who cannot resist brushing away his fringe oh-so-delicately...

Anyways.

His entire life is a testimony in itself, and has never been the same since he met Christ but 2 years ago.

He preached on faith: challenging us to think whether our faith in God was strong or otherwise while interweaving his own personal experience of having seen his friends lose faith in God.

And sometimes the room would go so silent in contemplation that you could hear the stage creak when Andrew stepped around on it (he later resigned to standing on the floor lol).

You'd think he was a seasoned preacher, just listening to him on that night.

With 9:30 p.m. coming and going, youth service on the 22nd of March ended.

Amazing, how just two hours could be so great.

Green Apples: A Stuff of Fairytales

First and foremost, although they probably don't realise it's here till they see it, a bunch of thank yous to Frontliners FC and Chew Yan-Y for the photos.

Yup yup, that's what this post is about!

Firebrands Floorball Club is doing terribly awesome in the Penang Floorball League '09, rapidly improving since Day 1.

Yeah, Day 1 was a loooooooong time ago.

So, sebagaimana pembaca-pembaca maklum, PFL's drawing to a close, and the final match it none other than...

FIREBRANDS vs DALAT FALCONS

Our fearless guys of Firebrands'll be up against tall, fast, non-Malaysian floorballers.

So.

Wish 'em the best of luck (they'll need it!), pray, and GO AND WATCH THE MATCH LAAA!

It starts at 7:45 p.m. in Dalat's gym tonight (17th of March, 2009).

If you've never seen a floorball match before, THIS is the perfect time to go.

And if you've seen one before, you know you wouldn't wanna miss this.

And let's just hope our green apples shock everyone.

When Less is More

Mark my words when I say YOUTH SERVICE ON THE 14TH OF MARCH, 2009 WAS FREAKIN' AWESOME!

And very very fun.

We had Marilyn, Dixon, Beverly, Tania, Shiau Xian, Cheryl (from Mighty Warriors), Ivy, Eunice, Alex, Khai Hern and Elisha.

It was like.. CELL GROUP!

But an awesome one!

Okay. Getting to the point..

Service started with casual (and stupid and lame and funny) How's Your Week?.

(Which somehow got carried away to My Teacher Can't Pronounce Things Properly)

And every person who walked in was given a really, really warm welcome (Beverly screaming and everyone else applauding.

Then we prayed.

So then we had worship.

So Dixon and Marilyn decided: Everyone's in the worship team tonight!

Which meant:
Drums: Dixon
Bass: Marilyn
Acoustic: Tania
Piano: Khai Hern
Keyboard: Shiau Xian
Worship Leader: Elisha
Backups (yes they DID use microphones..): Cheryl, Alex, Beverly
Photographer (what?!): Ivy

It rocked!

Next up, ICEBREAKER!

I know. Random right?

Played Mafia.

It was great.

Alex then shared on Heart Transformation.

About the believers devoting themselves to the teaching of the apostles, prayer, breaking of bread and praising; not arguing; the difference between 'fish' and 'fishes' (lol Beverly's fault); and guppies.

With LOADS of distractions and offshoots along the way lol...

Ended with prayer in pairs, praying for each other's needs.

Conclusion?

Numbers don't matter!

Youth service was more than terrific with 11 people and 1 God.

But.

The more the merrier, so see y'all next week!

Youth Encounter '09

Oh bytheway, Youth Encounter is now a biennial event. I think.

(Biennial means once in two years.)

(This blog is so educational. First Bio then English. Not bad ehh lol)

Anyhow...

Youth Encounter's coming up!

13th-15th March 2009.

Definitely a hugely important timespan for these blessed fellas:

1. Andrew Chan
2. Asher Khor
3. Daniel Derek Low
4. Gary Lee
5. Indy Toh
6. Jesher Lim
7. Jeremy Lee
8. Joel Chung
9. Justin Loh
10. Kenneth Beh
11. Lester Wan
12. Lim Jin Ji
13. Lynden James
14. Sean De
15. Zephaniah Chong

1. Alicia Bonou
2. Carmen Ngo
3. Cherie Wong
4. Eulene Ooi
5. Georgina Dawn
6. Hephsibah Esther Rani
7. Julia Tan
8. June
9. Karin Beh
10. Nathania Chuah
11. Ruth Tham
12. Sarah Wong
13. Tan Wei-Lynn
14. Tan Yen Yee

(so many ppl kan? so as you can imagine youth service on the 14th'll be shrink-sized.. still awesome though lol)

Well yeah, that's the lot of 'em.

But of course I wouldn't put the list there for no good reason right? (that sounds like Eulene. haha.)

So.

Since you've already read this far, you might as well..

..say a silent prayer for these ppl up there, that God'll encounter them during the Encounter, and anything else you see fit to pray for.

Cuz that's like the whole point of the Encounter: for these ppl to encounter God.

And since they can only go once (for Youth Encounter), you wouldn't want 'em missing out on all God has for 'em kan?

It's totally up to you, whether you want to or not, but this post is basically a prayer request :)

Thanks.

Upacara Perasmian Pembukaan Kumpulan Sel

The above diagram shows the organelles within an animal cell as seen under an electron microscope.
Based on the diagram, state the differences between an animal cell and a plant cell.

...

Yes, biology is sickening, isn't it?

Fortunately enough, that's not the point.

...

You see, there's this new cell group opening up up up in north.

I don't think it has a name yet lol

BUT, if you wanna know the name, eat food, eat more food (bytheway it's a POT BLESS so bring lah some food - enough for 2-3 ppl), talk to ppl, have fun........

........then mah GO lor for the OPENING CEREMONY of Joyce's cell group.

it's at Joyce's place.

Address: 15, jln bunga bakawali, tg tokong, 11200 tg bungah, penang!
(sorry joyce. there goes your address to the whole wide world.)

don't know where it is?
welll i don't either.

you've got THREE options:

1. go look at map.

2. just get someone else to fetch you so you don't have to bother about directions.

3. ASK joyce at 0164269041 (oh CRAP joyce now everyone 'round the world and back knows your phone number.)

not coming for it is NOT an option.

i mean, you're gonna see justin get barbecued.

it's what everyone in the whole wide world's been waiting for. haha.

who wouldn't wanna come?

and no, i won't say it's gonna be awesome, cuz the word 'awesome' has been used wayyyyyyy too many times..

so CHOOSE an adjective to replace awesome:
exceptional, extraordinary, magnificent, outstanding, preeminent, rare, remarkable, singular, towering, uncommon, unusual

whichever one works!

uhm in case it still ain't clear enough, all three cell groups are combining at joyce's place on the 6th of March, 2009.

so see you ppl there! =D
