WORSHIP CONCERT 10'

WOSHIP SUMMIT 2010.
First ever worship summit held by Josh.

SO what are worship summits meant for? For WORSHIP duhhh.
So worship was lead by Joshua along with the worship team and a choir.

Worship lasted pretty much 3/4 of the night and the message was shared by Ps. Guy Rozario from FGA KL.

Ps Guy.
Basically he talked about worship, obviously.
Based on Exodus 20:22, he said that we cant be Christians without worshiping.

In Genesis 32, he said that a lot of times we cannot rely on the strength of God because we are too strong. God needs to bring us to a point of weakness so that he can provide us with his strength.
When you wanna wrestle with God, be prepared to limp for the rest of your life.

So basically Ps Guy was like trying to tell us that Worship cannot be fabricated and that we have to be transparent to Him.

Sorry it's such a short post but I really can't make out how Esau and Jacob had anything to do with worship. Sorry, just being honest.
If you all get it, leave it in the tagboard. =)

And the sermon was kinda short.
So, my lack of understanding + short sermon = short post.

Worship Team Retreat 2010.

MARCH 15-17 2010, Worship Team Retreat at Bethel House of Prayer.

So the worship team set out on a journey to a far away place in the hills of Penang, namely, Penang Hill.
Anyway, we all arrived the place at about 12 I think, and we had lunch there before the first session started.
the lunch there was to die for, seriously.

EVERYONE was quiet, coz we were all enjoying the food.

Our speaker, Josh Yeoh.

After lunch was session one, which was quite long, 4 HOURS to be exact.
But every minute was worth it.
But obviously before everything started, we had to have worship, which was amazing.

We learnt how to write songs by cluttering everything up and making it into some sort of mind map.
Basically, we learnt a lot of things, but I'm not gonna get into the details because 4 hours of a "lesson" can take a long time to post. So basically we learnt to write songs the right way.

So after the 4 hour long sharing, we were given like 30 mins to write a song?

Not a lot of time, but many of us managed to produce like parts of the song, and keep it safely in a green house.

P.S: A green house is basically like a place to keep unfinished songs for us to finish when we think it's ready.

Okay, after that we had a break and then it was DINNER TIME.
I tell you the soup there is like awesome, and I hardly talk about food.

After dinner was NIGHT session, worship and then sharing etc.
After that, we had quiet time from 10.30 onwards, and we weren't allowed to talk to each other.
We were supposed to listen to God.

Basically we would read a section from the bible and see what God had to say to us.
I'm pretty sure we all heard A LOT from God.

DAY 2.

I don't know whether it's a tradition or what, but every time we come up, we're bound to take photos of the sunrise, and for some reason it gets better and better and later and later.

After that we did our devotion, and after breakfast we had session 3.

Yes, sitting on the floor hurt our butts, that's why we lied down on our BELLIES.

The main focus of Session 3 was Lectio Devina, which is Latin for divine reading, spiritual reading, or "holy reading".

We read Psalm 27:1-5.
And basically, what we had to do was to listen to someone read the versus which we jotted down whichever verse that popped out the most and then see what it meant to us.

It's like trying to hear from God by reading the bible.

5 easy tips for you when you want God to reveal himself to you:
Thank
Reveal (Ask God to reveal Himself to you)
Use
Strengthen
Teach

After that was lunch and then session 4.

Basically session 4 was shorter and after some recap we were split into groups of 3 for SONGWRITING.
see the mind map i was talking about?

After that was dinner and then final session of the day, which didnt have sharing.

The final session was by far the best nights of my life.
God revealed Himself in more ways than one to us.
We saw visions and we were all touched by God and we definitely could sense His presence among us.

yeah, we all heard from God and prayed for each other.

On the final morning, our lives were sealed with the anointing of oil.
His presence there was just too great for us to handle.
And obviously coz everyone was touched, no one took pictures. Hahah.

And that marked the end of our worship team retreat.

20/03/2010

This week was the same as always just that there was no prayer that morning and everyone went for PAINT YOUR WORLD! (update coming soon)

So the evening began with Prayer and then worship.*anyone want to sponsor the blogger a camera?

2. Pastor is back in Cambodia. So, please keep him in prayer.

And now presenting the lovely pair,Sharon Leow & Justin Loh

Justin

Our dear Justin preached about, um something to do with the word 'conformed'

The way the word conformed is related to christians goes something like this

Christians who follow the ways of the world are conforming to the ways of the world.Get it?

Which means like your being influenced by the world and not influencing the world.

Lukewarm = christians who are not 'Hot' for God

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Revelation 3 : 15-16

So that pretty much sums up his message.

Now for his 'other half'

SHARON

Her title that day was Listening to His, Call Fulifilling His Will.

The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me."

But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.

Jonah 1 : 1-3

Are you willing to be open to God's will and be ready to fulfill it?

Before we can follow him, we need to have unconditional surrender towards God.

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

"Which ones?" the man inquired.

Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19honor your father and mother,'a]">and 'love your neighbor as yourself."

"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

Matthew 19 : 16-22

Thank you for reading!

Life Work
- Whatever you do must be very good, because we must have the same attitude as God.

We are made like God.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
-Genesis 1:31
We are co-creators with God
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
-Genesis 1:26

We are no ordinary children.
Every child has a name, a passion, a story, and a place in history.
There are no ordinary children.

History is going somewhere.
Moving towards the Kingdom of God.

TEMPTATION.

Sin is a normal part of our lives and we're not doing anything much about it.

What is temptation?
-Incitement to wrongdoing or evil.
-Ab attractive thing or action.
-To put to the test.

Cause.
Who or what causes temptation?
Us and devil.
God NEVER causes temptation.
But he allows it to happen so we can grow.

Why do WE cause temptation?
When we don't fully take off the old man mentality from us then temptation will come in. And we'll fall easier.

Why we are the cause of falling into temptation.
-Because we're still weak and we don't rely on God's strength.
When we think we are relying on His strength but he doesn't come through for us then we're actually not relying on Him.

Is being tempted wrong?
Nope. But giving in is wrong.

What kinds of temptations are there?
WORLDLY. (7 deadly sins)
-wrath
Inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger.

-greed
Excessive or rapacious desire and persuit of wealth, status, and power.
Greed can hurt a lot of people around us.

-sloth
Spiritual or emotional apathy, neglecting what God has spoken, and being physically ans emotionally inscribe.
Proverbs 18:9, proverbs 19:24

-lust
Excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature.

-envy
Pain or frustration caused by another person having something that one does not have oneself

-gluttony
over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste

-pride
Arrogant and presumptuous confidence that also involves degradation of others

All of the sins have consequences.

BIBLICAL.
Proverbs 6:16-19
Haugthy eyes (pride), a lying tongue (lies), hands that shed innocent blood (murder), a heart that desires wicked schemes (hurt others), false witness who pours out lies, a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Effects of temptation
What happens when we give in to temptation. (PMS)
physically
-the obvious
mentally
-guilt, stress, can't worship God coz you have guilt
spiritually
-distanced from God

IT IS A LIE FROM THE DEVIL THAT YOU CANNOT APPROACH GOD WHEN YOU SIN.

Who does it affect?
EVERYONE around us, including ourselves. From our relationship with God to the people around us.

If we don't get rid of our guilt, we're gonna sin even more.

Action
How do you overcome the temptation?
James 4:7
1) Submit to God and remember that we're always under God's authority.
2) Prayer. It'll give you peace of heart.
3) Distract yourself.

Thoughts may come but it doesn't mean they have to stay there.

After giving into temptation...
1) repent and confess
2) don't repeat the mistake
3) avoiding/getting rid of that temptation

CONCLUSION
WHO can help us?
Our SAVIOUR

Definition
1) a person who delivers from danger or destruction ; CHRIST.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Sorry guys for the late update again, photos were late. sorry sorry.

the usual prayer after bible class, split into groups of 3.

THAT's SOMETHING NEW.
DODGEBALL.

did i mention it's gonna be one of the events for YOUTH WAVE?

worship.

EULENE with our weekly dose of announcements.

ANOTHER something different.
Sitting on the floor, just like old times.

Speaker that day was our very special Pastor Victor.

His topic was FOLLOWING CHRIST, the Primary Role of a Disciple.

To start, Matthew 4 : 18-20
- "They followed him at once"

Matthew 9 : 9
- Matthew also left his career where he could earn good money at once and he followed Jesus.

We can see that people were willing to let go of their career to follow Jesus

What does following mean?

1 Corinthians 11
- 'Pattern' yourselves after me (follow my example) as I immitate and follow Christ.

Follow
1. To engage in as a calling or a way of life.
2. To be or act in accordance with.
3. To walk or proceed along.

Immitate
1. To follow as a model or pattern.
2. To be or appear like (resemble)

Jesus is asking us to copy him.He wanted his disciples to become like him.

As we copy Jesus, we become more and more like him. Make sense right?

Characteristics that we can apply in out lives :
1. Jesus prays (Luke 6 : 12-13)
- Jesus did not make decisions on his own, he prays.
- Jesus trusted and depended on his father .Thats why he prayed before making decisions. We
should always pray before making our decisions.

2. Jesus cares.(Matthew 8 : 1-30) (Matthew 14 : 14)
- Jesus had compassion
- Emphatize or to have compassion means to care for somebodyyy which in this case means to
suffer with somebody.

CARE = TIME x MONEY

3. Jesus serves.(Matthew 20 : 28)
- Jesus, who was God himself was humble enough to wash our feet.
- Our God took the form of a servant to serve his creation

4. Jesus submits to the Fathers's will (Matthew 26-39)
- SUBMIT = to yield oneself to authority, to put oneself under authority.
-God wants us to not be independant or dependent fully but he wants us to practice inter- dependance
- God teaches us how to submit through human leaders.
-God desires us to submit
- The more we resist leadership, the harder it will get.
-SUBMITION IS A STRENGTH that we all need to have.
-People who submit the best will become the best leaders.

Why do we need to copy Jesus?

BECAUSE THE WORLD CANNOT SEE JESUS BUT THEY CAN SEE 'YOU'
