Who are the Chinese?

Hello again people, welcome to the fireBRANDS blog :D Yay!!!
So here's what happened during last week's service.

As usual we had pre-service prayers

And then we kicked started the service with ice-breakers led by Faith and Natasha.
The object was to find a partner (boy and boy, girl and girl) and get a piece of paper.
Write a name of someone in the room and stick it to your partner's back.
Then, guess who's name is on your back and ta-da!! That's how you play it

Then, it was time for worship :D

And that night we had something a little different. We watched a video titled "Who are the Chinese?"

Random fact, did you know that most devices you see today were invented by the Chinese? Like that device to detect earthquakes. Never thought of that now did you? ;)

Mooncakes :)

How Chinese writing was like at first.

And after the video. Sharon prayed for Yvonne's brother who is suspected to have dengue. Let's keep him in prayer :)

And with that, service ended. Have a great week and see you this Saturday :D

Aim of the game? Everyone must stand up in order and not stand up at the same time
with another person.
Easy?
I don't think so. :P
After that fun ice-breaker, we had worship!! :)
What do you call a bee that got squashed by a piano?
A B Flat!!
Ba-Dum-Tss!
Speaker: Pastor Heok Cheow.
"So, How's your love life with God?"
You don't simply fall in love, if you do. You may hurt yourself in the process.
It's better to grow in love with God

--
Nothing is a bed of roses

You have to keep that fire burning
You have to give in order to receive.

--
God may love us unconditionally, but he doesn't trust us completely

Humans are selfish people. We want things to ourselves

--
Sometimes, the smallest things can draw us away from out intimacy with God.

"Don't let the little foxes destroy you"

--

Songs of Solomon 2 : 14-15

14 My dove in the clefts of the rock,
in the hiding places on the mountainside,
show me your face,
   let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet,
   and your face is lovely.
15 Catch for us the foxes,
   the little foxes
that ruin the vineyards,
our vineyards that are in bloom.

Songs of Solomon 5 : 10-16

10 My beloved is radiant and ruddy,
   outstanding among ten thousand.
11 His head is purest gold;
   his hair is wavy
   and black as a raven.
12 His eyes are like doves
   by the water streams,
washed in milk,
   mounted like jewels.
13 His cheeks are like beds of spice
   yielding perfume.
His lips are like lilies
   dripping with myrrh.
14 His arms are rods of gold
   set with topaz.
His body is like polished ivory
   decorated with lapis lazuli.
15 His legs are pillars of marble
set on bases of pure gold.
His appearance is like Lebanon,
   choice as its cedars.
16 His mouth is sweetness itself;
   he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, this is my friend,
   daughters of Jerusalem.

Songs of Solomon 6:3

3 I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;
   he browses among the lilies.

Songs of Solomon 7 : 10

10 I belong to my beloved,
and his desire is for me.

Revo Wildfire Party!! :D

Hey there and welcome back to another edition of the fireBRANDS blog :)
As you all now, there was no youth service last week due to........
The REVO WILDFIRE party at EPCC!!!

Here's what happened,
The REVO WILDFIRE party started with worship.

And there was a dance performance, which was quite interesting.

As you can see from the picture above the sermon last week was about Moses.
And the speaker for that night was non other than....

Pastor Sam :D

Moses had three parts to his life. each with a different belief.

1st 40 years of his life - Moses lived as he was somebody
2nd 40 years of his life - Moses realised he was a nobody
3rd 40 years of his life - Moses reaslised that God can use a nobody

Throughout his life Moses made a few mistakes as well.

One of them was when Moses killed the Egyptian for bullying a fellow Hebrew and he hid the body. Even though he hid the body, the Pharaoh still managed to find out about it.

You can hide the wrong but you can't erase it. God glorifies your restoration, not your mistakes.

There are three phases in Moses's life.

First,

The Servant (Exodus 2: 16-17)
-Moses acted and did things by himself
-He served served and helped 7 ladies
-One of them was his wife (soon to be)

Philippians 2:5-9 (NIV)

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature of God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,

Second,

The Obscure (Exodus 2:18-21)
-Became an alien in a foreign land
-Became a deliverer

And the third,

The Rest (Exodus 2: 23-25)
-Came to the point where he learned to rest

When you have Jesus, your broken dreams and ambitions are restored.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (NIV)

1 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

Not everything can be accomplished by your own strength. Sometimes you need help from God. The harder you try to make things work out, the harder it is for Jesus to work in you. But when you start to rest and let Him take control, then he can start to work in you.

That's all for now. See ya'll this Saturday :D
