The End. (of 2009)

Confusion.

What's going on tonight?

Pot bless ah?

Must bring food wan ah?

Eh no food isit?

Then what are we doing?

Is there worship?

Is there Bible class?

Why do we have to wear formal AGAIN?

What's the point of wearing formal?

Who's organising the night?

So many questions, so little answers.

But, like Ps Mark Pillai said:

We must learn to live with unanswered questions.

So live we did.

And hey, it actually turned out very well!

So, we will start with 6 o' clock.

This is Bible class.

(pls pls pls remember, captions are BENEATH the photos, thankyou.. or else it'll sound pretty weird.)

All the guys. Oh and for once in a blue moon, Pastor, Eunice and Alex were all not there.. so thank you, all you fireBRANDS who came, for your cooperation =)

All the girls. xP okay la, and three two guys.
I think there were less ppl cuz have to wear formal ma, so ppl lazy come early cuz have to change somemore. And also cuz they didn't know got Bible class or not.
So, next time, remember, when got youth service means got Bible class!

Everyone sharing Gary's Bible. Most of them didn't bring lol..
Bible class was led by Tania, it was about Penitential Psalms.
So we learnt how to say sorry.
Like how David did to God in Psalm 51.

Then also, whenever there's youth service, there's prayer.
Led by Sarah, we prayed for the orphanage kids in particular, and for the night.

fireBRANDS' trademark pasar malam style.

Everyone prays at once, then pray finish d, Sarah closes it.

So then we had a really awesome redcarpet entrance up to the sanctuary complete with flowers and Christmas decor.

And people came in, brightening up the place with their smiles (like the lightbulb wasn't bright enough already..).

And there was many, and they fellowshipped before service started.

But soon enough everyone had to reluctantly stop talking and passing around presents, cuz it was time for worship! Led by Sharon in red.

Being Boxing Day night, it was time for Christmas carols.
But really Christmas carols aren't just the same old boring songs you sing at this time of the year every single year, they're actually very meaningful.

The group of guys who were semangat enough to jump around during the first song.

Joy to the world =)

And here we have the essential photo of the congregation, as viewed from the back.

And since we're at the back, why not check out the soundman? Justin, at his very-nicely-lit-up corner.

And when we have youth service, we have Ming Yen's germs and saliva all over the microphone. This time it wasn't really announcements but more of a message about Christmas itself.

Eulene deep in concentration, taking photos.

And everyone was all ready in anticipation for the next (and probably one of the biggest highlights of the night) item..

So, what were they all staring at eh..

Leroy Tan the ever-awesome guitarist and singer.

..and his best mate Daniel Teoh, the guy with a very amazing voice.

Want the video, pls ask Sarah Khoo Yoong Wei. But to y'all who were there that night, listening to them singing walking in a winter wonderland.. was really something eh.

And they were kept very well entertained.

While others made pouty faces and took photographs.

Then it was Alex's turn to have the mike! And um no, he didn't sing..

Instead he asked people this question: What's an achievement you've made this year?

Lester, one of the answerers..

..and also Hephsibah. She shared the Gospel to her friends!

And as Alex picked out random people and got their answers..

...the crowd listened and clapped. So then another person Alex asked was none other than Vincent Lim, whose achievement was..

...learning to dance Mr Loh Bah! Since everyone kept urging him to go up and perform, he finally did! With music from Sharon's phone.

And he looks like he was having fun!

And yeah, so were the crowd. Wanna see the original version of Vincent's dance? Go Facebook! It's famously on demand now xP

While all that was happening, the gift exchange gifts were patiently waiting on the table.. (more like we were patiently waiting to get them)

And the nice lamps were still shining..

So then it was gift exchange!

Sarah having headaches. Good thing Joyce was there to help her..

More photographs being taken..

So one-by-one, they went and took their presents.

But when Vincent's turn came, guess what?
An ENCORE of Mr Loh Bah! (Sharon: Loh Bak sounds tastier) by request of the audience..

And this time Shaun was there to perform too!

So, gift exchange continued until all the 50+ gifts were distributed.

And so service ended with a prayer by Eunice Lee.

But, as they all say, the night was still young! As everyone stayed on for some extra fellowship..

..with some people digging through their bags to find each Christmas present.

But yeah, there were the kind souls who helped clear up the magnificent decor.

..are they like folding a cloth or trying to wear a baju Melayu?

But for the majority of them, it was time to vain (yes, including the guys..).

Cameras out, pose, and smile! =D

The 17-and-above group xP

And Daniel and Leroy got their fair share of attention from the adoring fans.

And so this post will end with a note of THANK YOU SO MUCH to Joyce Lim!
SHE is the pretty mastermind behind the decorations you saw that night, as well as during most of the other theme nights (Trick or Treat, Bamboo Swaying, etc.).

Wah, so fast d last youth service of 2009!

See y'all back in Sanctuary 2 next week year!
