Words and Photos for Another Indescribable Night

Di sebalik tabir, sebelum bermulanya hampir setiap kebaktian belia...

...okay I give up. What's 'worship team' in BM??

As I was saying, there's worship practice!

Worship leader Nehemiah with the backing of worship director Sharon, both individuals who're well aware of the true meaning of worship and know God's will for the worship team, ran through the songs to be sung that night with the team.

Including two electric guitarists!

Come 6p.m., time for Bible class, and this photographer was consumed with eagerness to hear the Word of God that the camera was left in the bag.

Means I forgot to take photos.

Eulene led Bible class (the youngest Bible class teacher ever! don't ever judge this lady by her age..) and shared about Walking in God's Ways. Back to Psalm 1!

That we should study the Word of God, and find delight in it. Not making it a duty but rather something we look forward to doing.

Next, dinner!

Skipping that, preservice prayer!

Sarah Khoo decided on something different rather than the usual get-into-groups-and-pray and so she shared a bit about PRAYER. What, and why.

Amazing turnout for preservice prayer these months.

We then prayed for the person seated on our right, then the worship leader and the preacher and the icebreaker-ess.

Sharon praying for Andrew, the preacher.

Okay, next, the 5-minute-toilet-break-before-service-starts.

Whoots. Exciting, isn't it?

And introducing, one of the newcomers for the night:

Zhuan Foo!
(i'm sorry if i got the name spelt wrong, Chinese names are so hard to get first time round)

And how some people act before service starts:

The preacher! He was posing, mind you.

The icebreaker-ess.

The electric guitarist and his floorball-avid friend back there.

Right then, everyone emptied their urinary bladders d, and it's time to break frozen water!

For that night, Eulene split everyone into three groups for a good ol' crowd favourite.

The human knot!

Group 2.

Group 1.

Group 3.

Group 2 trying to unravel themselves - Joyce did a lovely job in messing them up.

Another testament to Joyce's wonderful work of tangled art: Now what's Asher doing down there?

Right then, now that we've got a bunch of happy, smiling, youth with that I-had-fun-that-was-nice look on their faces..

..it's time to give it all back to God.

'Today, today I live for one thing:
To give You praise in everything I do
Yeah all the praise goes back to You.'

After which, announcements.

Ming Yen again! We'll never get bored of her.

Leroy praying for Pastor Victor and Alex, as well as Pastor Heok Cheow and Joshua Yeoh who'll all be going to Malacca for The Plan '09 Conference.

And we also have Sarah, introducing..

...the september babies! Shiau Xian, Eulene, Alex, Daniel and Isaac.
Each got a mini Mars bar (Alex looks pleasantly surprised. Daniel and Isaac look really happy.).
They were then all prayed for.

And finally, to the bulk of the night.. (bulk as in the most part, not bulk as in sizeable)

Mr Andrew Chan! Speaking on...

...yup. WAKE UP!!!!
Bangunlah! Sedarlah! Bangkitlah!

Antara isi penting dalam mesejnya itu termasuklah:

That sinners sleep in spiritual darkness, and even if they wake up it's still darkness. But Christians have light everytime.

"If you don't believe in God, how can you see God? Will you go on a three-legged race with God?"

God is light (no darkness). If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and make Him out to be a liar.

And, a clever play of metaphors:

Satan's
Internet
Network

our heart = modem
our brain = hardware
our faith = software

And, as God said to Cain, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.

So, how to overcome sin and wake up?
  1. Discipline - Hebrews 12
  2. Trust and faith - Proverbs 3:5-6
  3. Submit to authority - Romans 11:1-7
  4. Repentance - Mark 1:1-8
  5. Prayer - James 5:13-16
  6. Train yourself! - 1 Tim 4
"Jesus rose from the dead
Come on and get out of bed."
- from a song Andrew played
His message ended with a prayer, an altar call and a closing prayer for everyone.

And, a notable footnote: His message was partly spoken on by Eulene for Bible class, 'stolen' by Sarah during preservice prayer, the songs Nehemiah chose encapsulated the theme, and had to do with what Pastor Victor voiced out during worship.
And they didn't know what he was going to speak on.
Coincidences? Hardly!
