6/2/2010

HELLO people.
Sorry for the late update, really sorry.

ANYWAY, FEB 6 was yet ANOTHER school replacement day. On the bright side, we had yet ANOTHER youth service. *crowd cheers.

So basically service started off with prayer and then worship, led by joyce.

the familiar face, again.

Preacher that night was muscular James Tan something Kuang.

OK basically that night he talked about Matthew chapter 19 verses 16-29.

He did something like tell us what that story really means.'Maksud tersirat'

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

17"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

18"Which ones?" the man inquired.

Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19honor your father and mother, and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'

20"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"

21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

If what you do does not reflect your heart, then there is no point.

Ok I'll explain.*this is going to be tough.

The man said that he has kept all the commandments.I ask you, why do you keep the commandents? because you love God? because your mom said so?

Lets say the man did it out of love for God, then why wasn't he willing to go all the way and follow Jesus?.Get it?. Didn't think so.

What I'm trying to say is that, the Guy's action was not reflecting what was in his heart.Because his heart was not willing to give it up and follow Jesus. So whats the point of keeping the commandments.

If you keep the commandments, then one day God comes and ask you, Come on lets go 'save people', and you say no, THEN WHY WERE YOU KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS.

Another thing you have to ask yourself is, Are you following Jesus or your own idea of how following him should be?

Its means that following all the 10 commandments does not mean you are 'following' Jesus.I mean you are but maybe not to the fullest? or maybe you do it just to 'get' a 'ticket' out of hell?

Next part,

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"

Now verse is basically asking are you willing to give up EVERYTHING to follow Jesus?

Does what you have now matter more than what you will have for eternity?

Example : Does your playstation 3 matter more than having a seat in heaven with God?

Where your treasure is there your heart is too.Sound familiar? So i would advise make God your treasure so that your heart will be fully commited to serving and not something else.

One more thing is, the more you have the harder it is to give.Agreed? No? *please don't lie to yourself.

LASTLY, what is your main priority in life?

Most of us would say having a stable income, good wife, nice car, that is all good but are you storing up in heaven as much as you are here?

You work so hard to get money, money will one day fade away, but heaven won't.Like I said saving is Good, but if you save here you should be saving up in heaven as well.

And what is your reward in heaven? It is the souls you save.It that friend that you go to tuition with, joke with, meeting him/her in heaven one day. That is your reward.

I hope you all understand what was written. If not, ASK JAMES or pastor.

Anyway, do keep Pastor, Aunty Rama, Tricia, Daniel Tan, Ivy and Gary in your prayers as they're in cambodia, coming back tomorrow.
