From the Land of the Leprechauns...

...A wrinkled, wizen'd, and bearded Elf,
Spectacles stuck on his pointed nose,
Silver buckles to his hose,
Leather apron — shoe in his lap...
- The Lepracaun; or, Fairy Shoemaker, William Allingham

Ireland brought the world Guinness, weaved folklore with the likes of leprechauns, birthed forth Oscar Wilde and William Butler Yeats, and, recently, one of its own came all the way to speak to the fireBRANDS =)

7:30 p.m., and the ball starts rolling.

Enter Sharon Leow and the worship team.

And everyone gets up from behind those chairs.

Here we go =)

The avid worship leader and her backup singer.

The people listen.

And yeah, not forgetting, the sound system guys =D (the LCD boy was up in front)

Next to hog the podium, announcements!

Firstly, Alex, promoting the PFA Rising Star Floorball Challenge 2009 - Women. Which means.. IF YOU'RE NOT A GUY, YOU'RE INVITED TO PLAY!

And of course, fireBRANDS' Marvellous, Insane, Nonsensical Girl Yakking Endlessly Neverendingly (MING YEN). Our favourite announcer, introducing:

That lovely couple! (okay BOTH are lovely but you know which one i'm referring to kan..) Weird lah, two of them looking at Ming Yen, the other two looking at the camera.. LOL. funnyy.

Now that the page-long (yes i'm serious!) introductions were over, the two blues (oooh chelsea =D or birmingham hahah) can now come up.

Ireland meets Venezuela!

His name: Robert Reid.

Twiddling to on the LCD.

And Sharon getting called upon to explain the t-shirt (Recess Revo!)

Open your Bibles, get your notebooks and pens ready...

Robert the Irishman spoke on MISSIONS, beginning first with some quotes, a few of them here below:

"You have one business on Earth - to save souls." - John Wesley (founder of the Methodist Church)

"God isn't looking for people with great faith, but for individuals ready to follow Him." - Hudson Taylor (founder of the China Inland Mission, now OMF International)

"He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot (missionary who was killed while attempting to evangelize in Ecuador)

He also shared his testimony, how he was called from a high-flying career in Ireland to the mission field in Yunnan, China.

With some interesting stories of his experiences tucked in neatly, he continued on to speak about helping the poor, not only in other countries but in Penang, they're everywhere.

Sharing ended with a video clip on missions, the world, the poor, and the children.

Small glitch with the sound system while setting up..

...and here we go!

So, how to help??

1. PRAY

2. SEND

3. GIVE

4. GO!

Service ended with a prayer for Robert and his wife =)

oh and a reminder: next's meeting's NERD PARTY!
