... Dixon Koay Li Sheng!
(i know i'm stating the obvious, but just so you know, he's the one on the left.)
(i know i'm stating the obvious, but just so you know, he's the one on the left.)
Now being very hardworking and bored and all, I asked him a question,"Do you like reading books about yourself?". And, after hesitating a lil', he finally admitted, "Yes I do yes I do."
So, this post is dedicated to Dixon, with a short story about Dixon.
Oh. Right. Before I forget: The story's fictional.
But why bother mentioning that? It should be obvious... you'll see.
Dixon Crusoe
(Robinson Crusoe: revisited)
Power chords, pentatonic scales, playing the lead (guitar.. duh.), that madly expensive yet uber-awesome effect pedal, that electric guitar... that basically was Crusoe's passion.
Now most unfortunately his foster parents always thought electric guitars were rude, loud and obnoxious.
(Legend has it that the stork was shot down while bringing him to his biological parents, so he ended up with Mr and Mrs Harpy (foster parents) instead.)
Mr and Mrs Harpy preferred... yes... harps.
(They wanted to name him 'David' after that great harp player who lived a long long time ago, but his name got mixed up with some other guy's so he ended up getting 'Dixon' while the guy who was supposed to be 'Dixon' got 'David' instead. Horrible, horrible, hospital.)
So, after studying about Robinson Crusoe in Form 2 Literature in English, Dixon learnt that to be successful, you should run away and do whatever you want.
And so when he was of age, that is, 18-years-old, he ran away from Mr and Mrs Harpy (they were never his real parents, he reasoned) and took a plane to... Mozambique.
Unlike the fictional Robinson Crusoe, Dixon made it to Mozambique unscathed (besides the shockingly deep papercut on his left index finger (the pointing finger) he accidentally got while filling up the immigration form - Mozambique has really sharp paper) and untouched by any shipwreck whatsoever.
And so he wondered whether he'd make it in life like Robinson Crusoe did, considering he didn't get stranded on a deserted island...
Anyways.
So he landed in Mozambique, got in touch with the YWAM branch there, and started to play in some churches there, with his awesome electric guitar and effect pedal.
Until one day.. he met a Mozambique lady, got married, settled down, and lived happily ever after.
Story doesn't end there.
Remember Mr and Mrs Harpy? It was eventually found out that THEY were the ones who shot the stork down in order to get a child, cuz Mrs Harpy was sterile and they couldn't afford.. well.. getting a baby by other means. (Faham-fahamlah, when you get to Chapter 4 of Form 3 Science.)
Mrs Harpy should've upped her Vitamin E intake (it prevents sterility).
And, to make this story simpler, Dixon's real parents were never discovered by him, but still, he lived happily ever after.
Moral of the Story: Keep your guitar strings clean and not rusty, cuz if Dixon didn't keep his un-rusted, he could've gotten some of that rust into his papercut. Then the rust would've rushed into his bloodstream and caused many complications and stuff. I think. Look, it's fictional! Why bother with facts?
But, since this story is utterly meaningless and pointless, here's some constructive stuff: What they think of Dixon, from two people whom I reckon Dixon respects (well.. kinda?) and would probably like their opinions. I think..
And anyhow, it's constructive and true. Like all posts on this blog're supposed to be, I guess..
Beverly Wong (who else? hahaha)
Erm.. I think he is a fine guy, growing towards God, if you get what I'm saying. (hehe) Erm.. he's fun, sporting. (hehe) Erm.. not that very good at jokes. No offence. (hehe) Erm.. Let me think somemore. He is.. a nice person to bully. (hehe) Cause he doesn't really mind. (hehe) He is quite understanding and he has many talents he hasn't really dixcovered yet. (hehe) But overall I think he is a great friend :)
James Tan
Well I think if he puts his heart into something he can do it but otherwise he needs motivation which is easy to get. I think he does stuff excitedly with all his effort.
Yup, that's pretty much it.
Awesome, yes?
